Moms Help Spread McDonald's Propaganda

Instead of drinking the Kool-Aid, moms are being invited to drink the vanilla shake.

Since 1960 McDonald's restaurants have had 23 different slogans from "You Deserve A Break Today" to the current "What we're made of." They might add one more: "Mother Knows Best." In a ploy to get moms to stop writing off McDonald's food as unhealthy, the fast food behemoth has recruited mothers to spread the word that not all McDonald's food is bad for you.

No wonder the burger giant is looking around for help. With daily reports of childhood obesity and the recent batch of food recalls stats, McDonald's revenue has been taking a hit.

McDonald's solution? The Quality Correspondents Program, which invites moms to meet with executives, inspect McDonald's facilities and then disseminate their findings on that global message board aka the Internet. Tidbits like: The Chicken McNuggets contain chicken! The Egg McMuffins have REAL eggs!

McDonald's has even thrown in that added level of exclusivity on their online sign up form:
"Not everyone can be a McDonald's Moms' Quality Correspondent, but everyone can join our quality community and learn along side the Moms."

In many respects McDonald's has taken steps to improve the nutritional value of their food, but they have much more work to do.

What do you think? Does McDonald's deserve a break today -- and should moms take up their cause?
